Eyelash Aftercare
Eyelash adhesive take 24 hours to completely cure so therefore, the first 24 hours are the most important time to ensure your lashes will last.
Do not get them wet, this also includes attending the gym, hairdressers, showering, washing your hair for at least 24hrs after your treatment.
Do not use sun beds, sauna, spa, steam rooms, jacuzzi for a minimum of 24hrs.
Do not re insert any contact lenses , please wait 24hrs.
Keep oil based products away from your extensions and limit the use of oily products on your face where possible. This oil will break down the glue giving you poor retention and causing the extensions to fall out.
Keep your extensions clean in order to get the best retention possible. Please clean them gently as instructed. Failure to keep your lashes clean will result in bodily oils breaking down the bonds of the extensions and therefore falling out.
Never apply mascara to your eyelash extensions. I can advise on a suitable mascara for the lower lashes which some people like to apply.
Where possible try to avoid wearing eye make-up. Especially eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner. IF you have to wear eye make-up ALWAYS make sure you are thoroughly cleansing the make-up off with your oil free make-up remover and cleansing the lashes.
Failure to remove makeup appropriately can cause a breeding ground for bacteria and eye infections. It may also mean that your infill appointment will be longer with me as I will have to clean them. This will result in your infill appointment being more expensive.
DO NOT pick or pull your Eyelash Extensions. Picking or pulling will pull your natural lashes out.
Although you cannot control how you sleep, try to avoid sleeping on your face. This will put pressure on your lashes and can result in them falling out quicker.
It is normal to lose up to 5 eyelash extensions per eye in the first 24 hours so do not be alarmed.
Brush your Eyelash Extensions gently daily to ensure they are neat, tidy and uniformed.
It is natural to lose more oases on one eye than the other, this is usually caused by sleeping on that side.
Always return for your infills within the time frame advised by me. If you do not wish to keep your eyelash extensions please book for a removal or let them fall out naturally.
THE EYELASH CYCLE
Our natural lashes grow in cycles, the average cycle is 8-12 weeks. This means the amount of lashes you have week after week will vary depending on what stage of your lash cycle you are in. Some weeks your lashes will look fuller than others. Every 8-12 weeks you will experience a large loss of lashes, this is perfectly normal. Do not be alarmed if at times you lose more than normal, this is just your lash cycle.
LASH SHEDDING
We lose hair from all over our bodies including our lashes. This loss can increase during the spring and autumn months. At these times of year you may find your lashes do not last as long because of this natural shed, and you may need to schedule your infills more frequently. After a few weeks our bodies do calm down, so do not be alarmed.
Here are following general eyelash loss patterns for you to expect:
After 7 days you will lose 21 extensions
After 14 days you will lose 42 extensions
After 21 days you will lose 63 extensions
NB: It is normal to lose up to 5 extensions per eye within the first 24 hours, do not worry.
Now you can see why your lashes need to be infilled regularly to keep them looking thick and full. If you have less than 40% of your lashes left you will need a full set, not an infill, and you must let me know in advance of your appointment.
SPRING AND AUTUMN LASH SHEDDING
During the Spring and Autumn months humans shed hair from all over their bodies - just like animals. This includes your eyelashes. At these times of year you may find your lash extensions do not last as long because of this natural shed. You may need to schedule your infills more frequently. After a few weeks it will calm down so do not be alarmed.
